Ruderman Professorship of Jewish Studies at Northeastern University
The Jewish Studies Program at Northeastern University has great momentum and distinction. This is in large part because of the Ruderman Professorship of Jewish Studies, endowed by the Ruderman family, whose patriarch alumnus Mort Ruderman graduated with an engineering degree in 1959.
The gift has propelled the program’s expansion, ensuring that students are able to play a key role in Boston’s Jewish community—by participating in the University’s unique co-op program. In addition, students benefit from study abroad programs and service learning that focuses on Jewish communal service.
What sets Northeastern’s Jewish Studies Program apart is a commitment to excellence in the areas of integrated experiential education. And, the program’s mission: To develop future leaders, to nourish Jewish identity in the modern world, and to represent Judaism in the public sphere.
The program offers a minor, a dual major in Jewish Studies and Religion, and an integrated BA/MA or MJEd program with Hebrew College. Its prestige has been widely recognized by various grants and awards that support the work of its distinguished faculty and talented students.
